BLACK BELTS

FROM ANOTHER SCHOOL

WHO WISH TO JOIN OUR ACADEMY

If your are a black belt and you decide to train with us, a warm welcome to you!

When you take your first class with us, you will line up with our black belts and you will be considered of black belt rank.  However, your are not Red Sun certified, so you will line up behind our certified black belts (but ahead of our Junior Black Belts if you are an adult), regardless of your dan rank.

a "CERTIFIED" and a "REGISTERED "black belt

You will wear a white belt with a black stripe.  The black stripe indicates your rank, and the white belt indicates your newness to our academy.

You are considered a Red Sun Academy member and have up to one year to learn all our katas and self-defense moves.  Once you learn our katas and self-defense, you will be invited to test for your black belt in Jo Kwon Chi.  If and when you pass the black belt test, you are considered a certificed black belt with Red Sun Academy, and you wear a solid black belt..  The time this takes is determined by how long you take to learn the katas and self-defense moves.  Some students learn them in a matter of months.

You pay the $25 academy monthly fees.

VISITING BLACK BELTS

If you have earned a black belt at another school and you wish to take a classs or two, at Red Sun Academy, you are welcome to train with us up to 2 times a month, capping at 3 months.  (Otherwise, you fall in the first category).  Visiting black belts are typically from out of town and wish to train with us for a short spell.  You will be considered our guest, and we welcome you to our academy to share knowledge and train together.  However, visiting black belts do not teach.

As a visiting black belt, you do not need not learn our katas or self-defense moves.  You will not be charged our monthly fees because you are our guest.  You are encouraged to wear your solid black belt.

GUEST INSTRUCTORS

Guest Instructors are invited to our academy one time (sometimes more) to teach a workshop or a seminar.  Guest Instructors and visiting black belts line up according to their rank and do not pay academy fees; they are our guest.  When they enter the dojo, we “black belt salute” them.
