TAI CHI SWORD...

...
Separate from the karate classes,
Tai Chi is a more gentle approach to the martial arts.
It is geared for stress reduction.
The ancient art of Tai Chi claims many health benefits
such as increasing circulation,
reducing stress, toning muscles,
and channeling positive energy.

The Chinese refer to the joints as gates,
and these gates control the amount of energy
(in the form of oxygen in the blood)
that flows through the body.
Practicing Tai Chi
increases the range of movement in the joints,
unblocking muscular tension.

Each Tai Chi class at Red Sun begins with a 5-minute talk so the student gains mental and spiritual knowledge. .We then do Tai Chi drills in preparation of learning Cheng Man-Ch'ing's Yang-style 37-posture short form, teaching each new student a few more moves with each class. .After the form, we work on push hands. .And we end each class with dessert -- namely, the Tai Chi sword (teacher's favorite!). .Beginners learn simple sword strikes and blocks. .Intermediate students practice partner drills involving chi. .More advanced students learn the choreographed two-person sword fight scene. .Safety is a biggee with us, so no worries.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Don't feel that you're too old or out of shape.
The moves are similar to swimming in air.
No brute force is used.
CLASS TIMES:
Class meets once a week, every Sunday evening.
It's a wonderful (and relaxing) way to end the week!
TAI CHI CLASS: 7:30-8:30
BEGINNERS: 7pm-8pm
COST:
The cost is $35/month
for Red Sun members and nonmembers.
New students must pay for two months in advance
plus a $25 initiation fee.
After that, it's just $35 per month.
We have no contracts.
Students can opt to pay $10 per class
(AFTER being a tai chi student with
us for 3 months or more),
for up to 5 classes.
This is to help during vacation time,
sickness, or when company visits.
To discourage poor attendance
or disrupted training,
students can pay $10 per class
for only 5 times per year.
A heartfelt THANK YOU to my past teachers
Blackwell, Frank Wong, and currently, Jim Cross
for showing me the way.
